Specialist Pathologist In House

Traditionally, if your pet has a lump of bump of concern, your vet might take a sample with a small needle and send a slide to an external laboratory for a Veterinary Pathologist to examine and provide a diagnosis or indication as to whether further treatment might be warranted. At Pet Care Hub, we are lucky enough to have our very own in-house Pathology Board Certified Specialist; Dr Annika Oksa!

Dr Annika completed her residency in Anatomic Pathology at Murdoch University and sat her Board Examination obtaining a certified Veterinary Anatomic Pathologist by the American College of Veterinary Pathologists. Having such a qualification in a clinical role is something really quite special.

How does this benefit you and your pet? Well we can examine your pet’s concerning lumps and bumps, collect samples and performed microscopic examinations right here in house. This means a more cost effective approach and an on the spot answer rather than waiting for several days. Fast results = fast treatment and all here in-house. Here at the Pet Care hub, your pet does not have to spend even 1 day longer with a dangerous lump than necessary, and this could contribute to saving their life!

Should we identify a lump of concern, we may talk to you about treatments including removal of the lump and sending this away for confirmation of diagnosis and margins (i.e. checking the entire mass was removed completely to minimise or prevent return).
