Health Checks & Vaccinations

Health checks are just as important as the vaccination appointments.

This is your opportunity to show us any lumps or bumps you may have seen, chat about health concerns, life stage care or discuss anything you like really!

Puppy & Kitten Health Exams

Adopted a new family member? Congratulations! You have just made a commitment to the cutest little furry face ever. We recommend a health check as soon as you adopt your new friend so that we can ensure he or she is in perfect health. This may also be required by the breeder or your pet insurer.

During this appointment, we will discuss with you all the core pet care things such as diet, preventive options, breed specific things, desexing recommendations, behaviour & anything else you need to know about!

Even if you have had a pet before, things change all the time with newer and better foods, preventatives and regimes. A health check at the time of adoption provides peace of mind that your friend is happy and healthy and set you up for success right at the beginning.

This appointment time also allows us to review the documents the breeder, shelter or rescue provided you and make a plan for when the routine things are due so you can focus on enjoying your new friend.

Annual Vaccinations

Annual vaccinations are so much more than just an annual injection. At this visit we will chat to you about your pet and you can tell us anything you have seen or have concerns about. From here we may ask some more specific questions to narrow down any issues that may have arisen.

During this consultation, a full health exam will occur and will include listening to your pets lung and heart sounds, checking the eyes, mouth and teeth, a good look over his or her coat and body for any signs of issues that may be arising.

If everything looks ok, we will administer the vaccination your pet is due for and discuss any age or condition related things that have been identified. We may provide you with recommendations of things we think would be a good idea; such a dental work, blood tests or other things needed to keep your pet happy and healthy for many more years to come.

Senior Pet Consultations

Just like us, as we get older more health related things pop up. Lumps, bumps, limps, changes to sight, hearing or even behaviour changes can occur. Dogs and cats are considered senior citizens after approximately 8yrs of age, and even younger for larger breed dogs!

As many old age related issues can occur very gradually over time, sometimes we don’t realise things have become sore or a problem. Therefore, we recommend regular health checks with a vet for the more distinguished family members. We can look them over carefully and flag any potential problems to help ensure any issues that come up, don’t become bigger hurdles too quickly.

Veterinary care is always advancing, with new treatments and preventatives being made available all the time. There is lots that can be done for age related concerns such as cancer, skin issues, dental disease, arthritis, sight loss and anything else that is more common with age.

Consider booking your pet for a mid year check up between annual vaccine consultations. It will help you to keep your older friend happier and pain free much longer.

Consultations

If at any time you have a concern or you’d like to discuss your pet’s health, happiness, behaviour or wish to seek medical advice specific to your pet; this is the appointment type for you.

During the consultation, the vet will listen to any concerns or questions you have and examine your pet. From here, we will provide information about your pets’ condition and provide some suggestions for things we can do. These may include tests, medications, treatments including surgical options or maybe even provide the option to be referred to a specialist.

Things you may come to see us for include:

  • lumps and bumps
  • arthritis or joint pain
  • smelly breath
  • sore eyes or ears
  • coat or skin conditions
  • anxiety or other behaviour concerns
  • excessive drinking or urinating
  • toileting issues

I recently took my Podengo and Whippet puppies for a check up & vaccination at the Pet care Hub. What a wonderful experience. This clinic offers professional and knowledgeable veterinary care but with a personal, caring touch. Thank you! We will definitely be back.
