Let us take the stress away from your pet having a surgical procedure.
Whether it is routine or non routine surgery, it can be a worrying time leaving your pet unattended at the surgery for the day for a procedure.
We hope to take some of that worry away by explaining some of the things we do here at Pet Care Hub to take care of your family member and keep them safe when having a surgical procedure with us.

Pre-Surgery Checks
All pets undergoing surgical procedures at Pet Care Hub are carefully checked over to make sure we cannot detect any health issues which may cause concern for an anaesthetic.
This includes taking their temperature check for any fevers which may indicate an infection, listening to their heart & lung sounds with a stethoscope to detect any unusual breathing or audible heart murmurs & looking over their body for any other signs or symptoms he or she may have of underlaying illness.
Creating an anaesthetic plan
No one pet is the same as another. With careful consideration to your pets clinical history, any previous anaesthetic concerns, current health status, age and procedure being done, we will create a plan for your pets anaesthetic. This means choosing the drugs we will use for your pet as a pre-medication and anaesthetic induction, along with suitable dosing.
Whilst there are some common medications we may use, not everything is suitable for every pet or situation and the careful selection of what we use for your pet means increased safety and speedy recovery.
Fluid therapy
Fluid therapy is compulsory at Pet Care Hub for all general anaesthetics. This essential supporting therapy provides your pet with the systemic support needed during surgery to promote healthy blood pressure, taking care of all the essential organs, along with ensuring hydration is appropriate for metabolising the medications used. This means we can better support the body to function at its best, increasing anaesthetic safety and speed of recovery. Fluid therapy is generally commenced prior to anaesthesia.
Monitoring and intra-operative support
During your pets stay with us, a qualified and experienced veterinary nurse will be supervising and monitoring him or her the entire time. From initial admission, through the examination, into theatre and post operatively, every need your pet has will be taken care of and every movement your pet makes will be watched like a hawk. During induction and surgery your pets vitals will be physically and digitally monitored and adjustments to the anaesthetic made as needed to keep your best mate safe and pain free.
Our surgical theatre is air quality and climate controlled and our patients are provided with human equivalent warming equipment to keep them warm during the procedure. Our surgery table is padded and your pet also will be wrapped in a nice warm blanket for his or her little sleep. It’s all the little things that significantly increase patient comfort and safety that make us different.
Post surgery recovery
After surgery, your pet will be moved to a comfortable bed where he or she will continue to be kept snug as a bug. Once awake enough a quick toilet break outside for some fresh air and a small tasty meal is given.
Your baby will be returned to you rested, fed and ready to take on the world (after the mandatory 7-10 days of Netflix and chill at home to make sure that surgery wound heals properly of course!).
